Great Console
Summary:
There's never been a more interactive game console than the Wii. If you're a sports fan then you have to play Madden. You really get into the game. It's quite an experience.

wii review
Summary:
This thing is AMAZING. We have been playing Wii Sports non-stop. Can't wait to get to the other games! So what sets the Wii apart? The feeling of being immersed into the game. Sure, the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 have all the technology advances built in to them. They are the cutting edge as far as graphics and video, but neither of those captured me as much as the Wii.
The Remote is what really sets it apart. You can't sit down and play this thing. So much for being a couch potato! You have to get up and MOVE. Second is the creation of Miis. You create your own profiles and can bring them with you to another Wii (if you can find somebody else with one). Last, is the compatibility with GameCube and the virtual console games. It's awesome that I can download games from my childhood.
The con is that you will spend lots of time playing!
If you are into the latest video technologies, get the PS3 or 360. If you want amazing interactive technology that you can forget about AND HAVE FUN, get the Wii...If you can find one!

How to connect my Nintendo Wii to the internet using my laptop?
I have a Nintendo Wii, and I would like to know how I can connect my Wii to the internet using my laptop. I have Alltel wireless but no router and no Nintendo USB Wifi connector of any type. Is there another alternative as to how I can connect my Nintendo Wii to the internet using my laptop?

Good games for young children?
Does anyone have any recommendations for a good Wii game for young children in the 4-7 year old range?
Good luck to the kids once the adults get ahold of the Wii, lol. My eighty year old mom loved doing the darts and bowling! Many senior centers have wised up and offer it, great for when it gets wintry and they really dont take them to malls, etc due to ice/show. :) Hey, I'm good at darts and I'm not QUITE a senior...
So would have to agree- the sports games are clever, particularly when you design your people to look like people you know. They are the ballplayers out in the field, in the crowd when you bowl, etc. YOUR KIDS WILL LOVE IT.

We have wii sports and wii play and my 6 year old son loves them! We've only had the wii about a month and a half though so I'm not sure how long that will last... we also have Mario galaxy and he really likes that one also. We like the original wii sports because it gets the family playing together. We have family "bowling" challenges and my son wins every time!
I would second what jpdubose said. Also Lego Star Wars is a good one
Wii fit & Lego Star Wars would be an excellent choice. ... Over the hedge is a bit old but very good too.
I would look for educational type games for the Wii. Try your nearest GameStop.
XigiPro
Wii Sports that comes with the Wii is good. Wii Play is also another good one for children and comes with an extra controller also. Mario Kart: Wii would also be a good choice. Mario Party 8 is good and there's also Rayman Ravin Rabbids (not sure if that's the full title or correct spelling).

What's the best gift for a WII owner?
I need to buy a gift for a WII owner, what do you think is the best game/accessory to get them?
One may also get a wireless keyboard for the Wii- as of now its only purpose would be web surfing and email, but the Wii should support most USB keyboards.
Almost all of the Nintendo first-party titles are worthy choices (anything with Mario, Zelda, or Metroid in the title should be suitable).
A couple of games that aren't as well known but are excellent Wii games:
- The Wii has no shortage of mini-game compilations, but [b:3kq7kqqp]Rayman Raving Rabbids[/b:3kq7kqqp] was one of the first and is still one of the best. It makes excellent use of the Wii remote, letting players do everything from shooting gallery-style games to rhythm games to my personal favorite, finding the Rabbid who is singing out-of-tune and giving him a good slap with the Wii Remote.
- For gamers who like puzzle and adventure games, [b:3kq7kqqp]Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure[/b:3kq7kqqp] is a treat. Players have to use their noggins to guide the title characters to treasure chests. The Wii Remote is used to move them through the level, but it is also used with the different items in the game (i.e. players make a sawing motion to cut down a tree with a saw).
Another gift idea is a Wii Points card. They can be spent online to buy classic games on the Wii's Virtual Console service. Nintendo will also soon be releasing original games as part of its Wii Ware service. These too can be purchased with Wii Points.
if anyone is looking at this thred now, i would have to say that Mario Party 8, or Super Smash Brothers Brawl is a better choice for a gift, because those two games are more centered around party play. The wii itself is promoted as a party game system and therefore these are the two games, exculding wii sports of course, that compliment the systems primary purpose to begin with.
I have to agree. I received "Galaxy" for last Christmas. To say that "Mario Galaxy is a boat-load of fun" would be an understatement. It's a super-freighter-load of fun.
joe, wii sports comes with purchase of the wii as long as you are purchasing retail.
Yeah, either galaxy or Mario Party 8. You can't go wrong with that. Or if the person only has 1 or 2 controllers, you could get them another one.
Super Mario Galaxy is a super game for all ages....boat load of fun! Guitar Hero has just been released for the WII platform as well....Tiger Woods PGA is also quite fun!

The best place to buy a Wii
Where is the best palce to buy a Wii?
I lucked out originally on Circuit City's website. And I found that they had it available by checking out this site: [url:248go46q]http://www.refreshthing.com/wii/[/url:248go46q]
I pretty much just stalked that site until I found a Wii available at cost. Didn't even have to buy a bunch of extra games with it.
lol, anywhere is really the answer. Costco, Gamestop, ebay, WIGIX(im not selling mine),.......the list goes on
Target from time to time has stock....most places do sell it with a game budle to pump up the price tho...so, your best bet is to look at the owners here at Wigix so see if they are willing to part with their WII

Assuming that your laptop has wi-fi capability and your laptop can connect to the Internet, one thing you could try is to connect to your wii using a peer-to-peer (also called AdHoc) wi-fi connection and then using the Internet Connection Sharing feature in Windows. This should theoretically work, but I've never tried it myself with a Wii.
The Nintendo WII can connect to the Internet by utilizing its built in 802.11b/g Wi-Fi for wireless connections or via a USB-to-Ethernet adaptor for DSL connections.
If you have an existing wireless connection the unit will connect to your wireless connection automatically out of the box. There is a user manual link on the Wigix WII page that has instruction on this. Hope this helps!
