In case you haven't noticed yet, we launched our new Card Trading application today. This is our first foray into providing a bartering-type function for our users. It's something we had considered for awhile, and given the fact that we have some hardcore card enthusiasts on our site we felt that this would be a good place to start. We have a number of activities lined up within the next week to promote the application more widely, so stay tuned. And if you happen to collect or trade cards then we'd love you to give it a try and let us know what you think! You can access the application from the new Sports Cards community:

As more transactions are occurring on Wigix, one of the unfortunate by-products is having to deal with fraudulent sellers, and occasionally with fraudulent buyers as well. We've previously taken some steps to mitigate fraud, e.g. improving buyer/seller transparency, requiring all sellers to be PayPal or credit card verified, etc. But we just implemented a number of other internal controls to combat the issue. I can't go into too much detail here, but we now have measures in place to blacklist fraudsters so that they can't come back and re-register using a different id or email address. And we also have a mechanism to selectively block suspicious sell orders on "high fraud potential" items until they've been reviewed by Wigix. I just wanted to make mention of these changes to let everyone know that we take the fraud issue very seriously, and we will continue to make tweaks and modifications to ensure that our marketplace is as safe as possible for both buyers and sellers.

I stopped by, and I like it a lot. I'm intrigued by the bartering tool, and think it's a great idea. I see it having a lot of potential for other catgories, as well, such as collectibles where items are bought/sold/traded frequently.

Does the bartering tool allow you to suggest multiple item trades? Or is it strictly one for one? Also, it's going to take me _forever_ to load even just all my wants up to wigix. Any chance of some way to bulk load those?

Also, one thing that popped in to my head. Should you maybe be able to have your item opt in/out of the trade feature? I think there are some times that people would just rather sell, instead of offering an item up for trade.

Currently, anything that you have in your portfolio that is in a "tradeable" category, in this case sports cards, is eligible to be traded (i.e. bartered) as well as sold. If the need arises to differentiate between items that are only to be sold vs. ones that can be trade, I suppose we could do that.

With regards to your previous question, it is not 1 for 1, e.g. you can trade 2 of your cards away to someone for one of his cards.

I don't think that's what's happening right now. I have hundreds of cards for sale, but only about 50 are showing up as tradeable. From what I can tell, it's only ones that I have added recently, perhaps after the new category showed up?

We are in the process of moving all the cards that are in the old categories ("Sports Memorabilia" root) into the new "Sports Cards" root. All cards in the Sports Cards root should be tradable. The migration should be done within a week.

I think it's more like just spam, actually.

And here I was excited to see this thread light up in hopes that some people would start using the card trading tool. Oh well. Is there anyone to report this to, anymore?
