The prices for Pateks in auctions have been going up...even for late model years ... so I guess one can look at this as a different asset class.... one that can provide enjoyment!

Hot off the press from Hong Kong. Jaeger will have a price increase between 5%-10%, depending on each model as of July 1st.

"You never actually own a Patek Philippe. You merely take care of it for the next generation."

"A Patek Philippe doesn't just tell you the time, it tells you something about yourself."

"Who will you be in the next 24 hours?"

A friend tells me that her company gives their employee a Patek Philippe watch after he/she has been with the company for 20 years.

wow....what company is that? American companies used to give out Rolex as a retirement present....no longer....too costly in these days of cost control....ask your friend to check to see if it's the real thing

The company is U-Freight, a shipping company. According to my friend, they are still doing that.

Next thing for your friend to check is that whether it's authentic!

In Shanghai you can buy a extremely well made copy for 200rmb! It even feels like the same weight for similar model!

I hope US customs is not monitoring this forum, but I've bought a number of quality fake Rolexes and Breitlings for friends of mine in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong. I am amazed and how good these copies really are. When I put my Submariner right next to the fake I really could not tell any difference visually. It's not until you wind the watch or shake it around a bit that you can actually "feel" a difference. And yes, these knock-offs usually cost around 200 RMB. BTW, these same fakes sell in States for $200+ USD...talk about a mark up!
